______________________________________________________________________ The Expository Files (Macintosh Version) Edited by Warren E. Berkley and Jon W. Quinn ______________________________________________________________________ Warren Berkley and Jon Quinn have kindly consented to place a copy of the Macintosh version of The Expository Files online here at ICLnet. ICLnet also wishes to thank Shawn Tooley for transporting the monthly copy from his network in England. - ICLnet 2-18-95 __________________________________________________________ Following are notes from Warren Berkley and Jon Quinn: When we started Expository Files, a little over a year ago, we had no vision of what has happened. We thought a handful of preachers and a few others would take an interest, maybe 20 or 30 readers a month. Now, a few days after we upload into America Online and CompuServe, we have a hundred plus downloads, and this doesn't account for the downloads from our Internet location. It appears this is a new medium that can be used effectively to spread the Word of God; as we will emphasize in a series of classes on the campus of Florida College in Feburary: SPREADING THE WORD OF GOD THROUGH CYBERSPACE. Thanks to all those who have helped us with suggestions, articles, comments and technical advice. Thanks especially to Mark Copeland, a pioneer in the use of this medium. Now in 1995 ... A NEW FEATURE: What The Bible Says! Beginning with this issue, we are starting a TOPICAL PAGE, where some topic will be presented from the Scriptures. The first one is, WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT GOD, by Michael Schmidt. We are not going to minimize or abandon our expository emphasis. But we feel we shouldn't be limited to that approach. So look for these articles in 1995 ... WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT - GOD - BAPTISM - CHRIST - THE DEATH OF CHRIST - SIN - THE CHURCH - BEING SAVED - BEING A CHRISTIAN - FAITH - WORSHIP - REPENTANCE - MARIAGE Thanks for the download! We'll see some of you at the 1995 Florida College Lectures, Feb. 6-9, in Tampa. Our "bound volume" (3.5 disk with all of 1994, plus extras) will be on sale in the Audio-Visual Room on campus, for $10.00, and we are making arrangements to display the MAC version of EF in our space there. If you are not able to attend the lectures, and you want a copy of the "bound volume," send $10.00 (plus .83 cents tax if ordering from Texas) to: PAULA'S PRESS P.O. Box 956 Pharr, Tx. 78577 (Make checks payable to PAULA'S PRESS) - Warren E. Interest in Expository Files continues to grow. We really appreciate the response and the kind comments that have been made. As we begin a second year of publication, I'd like to share something with you. One of our readers sent in some constructive criticism following last issue. He commended the issue but in the kindest way possible said he had found a couple typos. It happens. I guess they call it "human error." We certainly try to keep these to a minimum, but sometimes in all the transferring of files, reformatting from MAC to IBM and back again and the meeting of deadlines causes Murphy to raise his head and enact his law. If I were the inventor of grammar, I would make it an official rule that typos don't matter, but I'm not and they do. At any rate, we look forward to our second year of publication and ask for your prayers in behalf of our efforts. Warren and I appreciate your support and ask that you spread the word about Expository Files Jon Quinn (JWQuinn@AOL.com) Warren Berkley (WEB47@AOL) ------------------------------------------------------- file: /pub/resources/software/msdos/ef: 00readme.ef.txt .
