Other connections ----------------- Reports from Norway describe an agreement reached between the Nazi occupation authorities in Norway with the Watchtower Society whic permitted the WTBS to retain its property holdings in Norway in exchange for voluntary limitations on their evangelization work. This old skeleton was uncovered by a staff member at the WT's head- quarters while researching the history of JWs in that country. His inclusion of this agreement in the article was removed by his superiors, and eventually the researcher left the corporation. The dossier will be updated as new information comes to light, although the Norwegian government lack archival material from that period, and the original documents are in the possession of the Norway WT HQ. Other reports from Norway relate the WT Corporation's double attempt to inflate JW numbers - currently using figures of 15000 for claiming of the religious subsidy from the Norwegian government, whereas membership stands in 1994 at 9,100 - and more perniciously using the numbers of JWs in German concentration camps as bargaining chips in negotiations with the present government. As a result, the numbers of these have been inflated way past the figures the WTBS have themselves printed as authoritative in their literature. The statistics in their 1984 version:- "Most outstanding among Dr. King's findings are figures of deaths and imprisonment of Jehovahs Witnesses. These indicate that the figures previously published by the Witnesses were greatly underestimated......What was these figures? "Some 10.000 were imprisoned, and together they received sentences totalling 20.000 years."" Watchtower 1984, Oct 1, p8 The accurate statistics in 1974:- "A total of 6.019 had been arrested, several two, three or even more times, so that, all together, 8.917 arrests were registered. All together they had been sentenced to serve 13.924 years and two months in prison, two and the quarter times as long as the period since Adams creation. A total of 2000 brothers and sisters had been put into concentration camps, where they had spent 8.078 years and six months, an average of four years. A total of 635 had died in prison, 253 had been sentenced to death and 203 of these had actually been executed. What a record of integrity!" yb74, p212
