NR #1995-040: For Immediate Release Orthodox Presbyterians on the Move: New Office Building will Double Available Space for Denominational Committees by Darrell Todd Maurina, Press Officer United Reformed News Service (May 13, 1995) URNS - The Orthodox Presbyterian Church has moved its denominational offices for the third time in five years. However, the OPC predicts that the move from leased facilities in Horsham, Pennsylvania to an office condominium five miles away in Willow Grove will be its last for many years. "We see this as a permanent move for the foreseeable future, probably 20 to 25 years at minimum," said Rev. Ross Graham, OPC General Secretary for Home Missions and chairman of the Administrative Building Committee. "I think most of it was generated by the need to get into a facility of our own where the rent was not going to rise. We were also maxing out on space." Graham said the new 10,000 square foot facility is more than twice the size of the previous leased offices. The new offices will house the three program committees of the OPC: Home Missions, Foreign Missions, and Christian Education. Additional space will be used by the OPC Committee on Coordination and by the production department of Great Commission Publications, a joint publishing operation of the Orthodox Presbyterians and the Presbyterian Church in America. The second floor will house commercial tenants paying rent to the OPC. "You can in one sense say the denomination owns the building but it's the program committees, not the General Assembly, that actually own it. We're not trying to set up a bureaucracy, we simply need space to do ministry," said Graham, noting that a total of only fourteen denominational officials and office staff will occupy the new building. Graham was particularly pleased that the OPC could pay cash for the new building. "It's paid for, unlike some other buildings," said Graham. The new offices, as with other OPC offices for the last 35 years, will be in the suburbs of the historic Presbyterian city of Philadelphia and less than fifteen minutes from the campus of Westminster Theological Seminary.
