Humans may have the knowledge to invent medicines, but only God can grant full healing. This can be observed in how medicines work at a different pace on each patient. However, there are times that drugs do not work and prayer will be the last resort. God’s healing can come in many forms such as spiritual healing, healing of the soul, physical healing, and more. Having God as the last choice when our sickness does not go away is not a good practice for it is Him that we should think first in everything that happens in our lives; may it be good or bad. Prayers for healing are very much needed most especially now that our world is currently facing deadly pandemics. Since we have not yet found the cure for some viruses, all our hopes lie in God’s powerful hands.
Why Doesn’t God Answer Prayers for Healing?
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Pain teaches us more lessons than happiness will. Trials and sufferings are part of our lives as humans. Both physical and emotional turmoil sometimes make us question God; why is He allowing these bad things to happen to you when you pray to be spared from them? Or why is it that God seems deaf to all your cries for help and restoration of strength?. God’s intention can never be guessed by anyone because he works in mysterious ways to help us in life’s journey. Life is hard, but we can change the way we look at these sicknesses and pains.
Everything may not always be good, but as children of God who love and believe in Him, we have the assurance that everything will work out for our best interest. Once we overcome an illness, we become stronger; not just physically, but also emotionally. Pain produces resilience and endurance which will help us as we go further with life. God will never give us something that He knows we cannot handle (1 Corinthians 10:13). That is why, whenever our prayers are not yet answered, it just means that there are still lessons left that God wants to teach us. And those teachings will benefit us in the future.
When our prayers for healing does not work, we should not lose faith. Instead, we should trust His process and great plans that lie ahead. We should continue to pray until we overcome the pain that is weighing our physical and emotional health. Once we overcome this, we will be stronger together with our faith.

How do you send healing prayers?
Acts 4:30 While you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
A healing prayer starts with faith. If we were to read how Jesus healed the sick when He was teaching, we can notice how He emphasized the role of faith when it comes to healing. Believing that you will be healed through your prayer and claiming it, will strengthen the prayer. We must have a stronghold on our faith together with our unceasing prayers to God. Communicating consistently to God through prayers for healing will drive away the evil spirits cast by the devil to weaken our physical and emotional spirits. As we pray, we should include a firm command for all negative spirits to leave your body and vicinity in the name of Jesus.
In praying, we should ensure that only you and God can hear the prayer. Our requests and pleadings should be directly communicated to Our Creator. It does not mean that saying our prayers out loud is a bad thing. Instead, silent prayers just make it harder for the devil to intercept it as they can not read our mind nor know the desires of our heart, only God can. Healing prayers should always include words of thanks as God is always pleased with a grateful heart. No matter how difficult our circumstances are, we should always see how He continuously bless us. Recognizing these blessings will also help us to see the positive side of our situation that improves our overall health as well.
Healing prayers are like the key to open the door of heaven to make divine healing rain down on us. Through these prayers, we are welcoming the power of God to work its wonders and miracles on us, like what the verse above says.
How do you pray for a miracle?
Deuteronomy 10:21 He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.
There is some sickness that may be declared to be a hopeless case by doctors but with God, there is no such thing as hopeless. His power has no limit and His miracles work in the most hopeless and unexpected times. Although miracles are considered as extraordinary and rare, it gives those who believe in it the hope for something better amidst any afflictions. Praying for miracles should start with the firm belief in it and the power of God that can make it happen. Your heart should be open to unending possibilities of how things may get better soon. The more positive our perception is, the more we will welcome miracles in our life.
Trusting God means trusting His plans for us. And miracles do not happen just because we want it to. It happens when God permits it. Praying for miracles in the middle of despair is a common reaction for us. And although it is not a bad thing, we should always remember that bad times are not given to us randomly. Instead, those are meant to teach us something from the suffering it causes. Rather than attempting to escape it, we should pray for the strength to endure it and get over it while gaining valuable lessons.
Do healing prayers work?
Psalm 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.
Praying to God is not the same as wishing to a genie. Just because we tell God we want to be healed fro a certain illness, does not mean it will come immediately. Prayers work in paces according to God’s Will and our faith. Healing through God’s power works through divine intervention, something that medical science does not believe, but yet cannot completely debunk. God’s healing does not pick certain diseases. He can heal a mild one and even one that may seem hopeless. Although some prayers are not answered as fast as others, one thing is certain; Healing prayers work.
In the Old Testament, one of the names of God is Jehovah Rapha which means God of healing or a God that heals. The God mentioned in the book of Exodus is the same God. He never changes. If God can heal the sick in the Old Testament and like how Jesus healed the sick in the New Testament, He can most certainly heal whatever it is that we are praying for. We just have to keep our faith and hold on to His promises that everything happens for a reason and will happen for the good of us who believes and loves Him.
Healing for Everyone
1 Timothy 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
The Bible had always emphasized the value of compassion and care for our neighbors. So, when we include people who need divine healing in our prayer, it’s something that will please God. It shows how we are living according to His words. Prayers for healing will work more effectively when done by many as it amplifies the purpose of the prayer. In the verse above, it is highly-encourage for Christians to get together for Thanksgiving and prayers. Below are some powerful prayers that we can use for the healing of large masses and other people in general.

Prayer for Those Waiting on Healing
Jeremiah 33:6 “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”
Father, we praise You, for You love us perfectly. You set the stars in the sky and the oceans’ borders in place. Everything moves under Your omnipotent hand. To heal us gives You joy. We don’t understand the pain. You tell us that sin has consequences in this life, yet we struggle to draft together a lofty purpose and reasoning for the when, why, where, and who it befalls. Father, You are grace and love and hold us in perfect justice and fairness. You grow us through every season, painful and not.
Thank You for lending us Your power in times of weakness and sickness and for gluing us together when we are emotionally coming unwound. For holding our tongues when the daggers of insult threaten to wage war in our hearts, I express my gratitude. For loving us completely and perfectly, providing care and companionship through medicine, family, friends, and church families that pray for us and unite for our cause, we can’t be more thankful. Forgive us, Lord, when we are too quiet and scared to reach out. Whether it be to speak of our pain under a blanket of prayer, or shout of our miracles to Your glorious Name. -Megs
