Hope is Biblically accounted for with a comparison to an anchor. An anchor’s job is to make sure a vessel is secure by berthing it to the sea bottom. With a vessel anchored, no matter what comes, may it be a heavy downpour, giant waves, or rushing wind, it can’t be tossed around. This is exactly how hope anchors our souls to God who is our anchor and our salvation. God as our anchor holds us steady through the storms of life, the waves of trouble, and the rushing worries of our mind. Hope in Christ allows us to learn how to trust God amid all our trials and tribulations. Hope is the anchor that keeps us steady and steadfast in all circumstances. It moors us in a firm foundation of who Jesus is. The following Bible verses about hope will tell you more about this anchor of the soul:

Hebrews 6:19

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.

Romans 5:5

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Romans 8:24

For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?

Romans 8:25

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

God is concerned about our comfort, but He is more concerned about our spiritual growth. Struggles don’t come along our life for the sake of experiencing it. We have them for a purpose. And that purpose is to prepare us for an eternal glory that will far outweigh all the sufferings (2 Corinthians 4:17). This is our hope, that a day will come that no mourning, no pain nor a shed of a tear will come to man. He who promised is forever faithful. We can find glory over our struggles and tribulations when we trust and believe that God will always remain truthful. Moreover, knowing that this suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces hope (Romans 5:3-4). Here are some of the Bible verses about hope to help you amid difficulties of life.

1 Peter 5:10

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Colossians 1:29

To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

Romans 5:3-4

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

2 Corinthians 4:17

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

Revelation 21:4

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

The Bible is brimming with God’s promises. Most of these promises are what we hold on to when things don’t go well with our plans or things get hard over time. That’s hope. We are anchoring ourselves onto something in order to press on and to keep going through the life God wants for us. It stills us. Hebrews 6:17-18 tells us that God’s promises are unchanging and trustworthy because Go’s characteristic is unchanging and trustworthy. it is His nature, and He embodies all truth. Unlike the promises of men which are both subject to fulfillment and disappointment, God’s isn’t.

When God said that He will be with you ’till the ends of the earth, He will be with you. When God makes promises, He’s simply stating what He will do in the future. The Lord is true to His promises. So when we put our trust in Him, He will never fail us. Here are Bible verses about hope which proves God’s faithfulness and promises to hold on to.

Hebrews 11:11

And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.

Philippians 3:13-14

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 6:13-15

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, “Surely I will bless you and multiply you.” And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.

Hebrews 6:17-18

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Putting Confidence in the Greatest Hope

This is our greatest hope- that we wait on a Savior who will return to this world to set free those who hope in Him firmly. Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah. The law was fulfilled when He died on the cross to give salvation to the world by grace; for by grace we are saved (Ephesians 2:8 – 9). The death and resurrection of Jesus revealed the long-awaited promise of God. But, another promise is yet to be fulfilled, that is Christ’s return. The Book of Colossians regarded Christ as the hope of glory. The hope of glory is the completion of God’s promise. It is the day of fulfilled redemption. It includes our resurrection and inheritance in Christ. This is our greatest hope in Jesus Christ, our Living Hope. Various Bible verses about hope reveal the glorious riches we have in Christ.

Colossians 1:27

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Romans 8:20-21

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

Philippians 3:20

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ

Colossians 3:4

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Bible Verses About Hope and Faith

It takes faith to find hope in God and His promises. Hope in God is not wishful thinking. It is a confident, assured hope in God’s truth. The kind that never withers even through the test of time. Hope and faith are a matchless combination in standing firm with the days of trouble and expectation. The writer of the Books of Thessalonians compared the wisdom of having both hope and faith to a wise warrior. To have hope in the Lord and fight spiritual battles, we need to put on the armor of God. We must have hope to protect ourselves from the worries that life throws at us.

We also need faith in God to secure our hearts from the doubts of the heart. Different Bible verses about hope, faith, and love reveal truths about how having god at the center of our lives. The foundation of our lives as we walk with God will last forever if we hold on to these three things; faith, hope, and love (1 Corinthians 13:13).

Romans 5:2

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 4:18

So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.

1 Thessalonians 5:8

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

1 John 3:3

All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Hebrews 10:22-23

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Clinging to the Living Hope

The Book of Ecclesiastes mentions that there is a season for everything under heaven. This season involves waiting. And during these seasons of waiting, our faith is being increased and our hope is being built up. Some days may come with pain, some with patience, and others with joy. No matter how it feels, the right way to go is by trusting God above it all. Look unto Jesus who is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). That is how our souls are anchors to Him. Remember these Bible verses about hope to equip you when winds shake your cornerstone.
