The creation of the universe, the world, and everything on it are one of the most glorious and influential stories in the Bible. God’s creation reflects His splendor and power. Before the beginning of time, He lavished all things artistically and with love. Genesis, the first book of the Bible is about God’s creations and how He has made mankind with love and care. Moreover, the first phrase of the Bible introduced Him not as Lord nor Savior but as God and Creator. He is the Alpha, Omega, Beginning, and End. He is the reason for all existence. For God, nothing is an accident. Every creation resounds His plan and nature. He has a plan for everything and everyone (Jeremiah 29:11- 13).

The Creation Of The World

The first chapter of the Bible opens with the creation of the earth. For six days God formed the heavens and the earth and everything in it. He is the author of creation. From darkness and an empty surface, God formed the universe and created the world. With His words, everything was created; day and night, creatures in the oceans and seas, birds in the air, and animals on land. At God’s spoken word, each organism breathed life and lived according to its designs.

The One who created all things is a God of diversity and artistry. He made everything with a precise purpose and majestic beauty. This is the beauty of God’s creation. He made each distinct and yet harmonious, complementing each other’s unique designs. God’s creation of the earth was precisely accurate and magnificent from the intricate molecules to the vast universe.

Genesis 1:1 

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:2-3 

“The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

The Creation Of Man

God created man in His image and likeness. The highest point of creation is when God formed man from dust and breathed life into his nostrils. In all God’s creations, He made man not by words alone but by His hands. God formed us and we received life through His breath. Moreover, an example of God’s great love for us, He distinctly designed man to be higher than any other creature. The role of man on the earth is clear. He has the authority to have dominion over the land and rule over other living and non-living creatures. Man is God’s stewards of the world (Genesis 1:26). 

We have a greater purpose in God’s eyes because He created us out of the abundance of His love. We are given the freedom to have a relationship with God and He enjoys this connection that we have with Him. Being created in the image of God means sharing the qualities of God in spiritual and moral nature. It is His presence that is in us when He breathed life into us. Mankind became a living soul and not just a mere creature.

Genesis 1:26-27

God Takes Pleasure In His Creation

God is pleased with all He creates. For six days He created all things and for every day he paused, looked at His creation and delighted each (Genesis 1). The scripture regarded the creation as “good”. The very existence of every creation makes Him happy. God made all things with excellence and great beauty. God’s nature to create is limitless and unbounded. It flows in inexhaustible provision. Therefore, it cannot be suppressed nor denied.  Your very existence pleases God as to how every particle of light pleases Him (Genesis 1:27 -31).

God’s Creation Gives Glory To Him

There is one biblical fact that we shall not neglect- that God’s creation gives glory to God himself above all else. The skies above proclaim His majesty (Psalms 19). The stars in the dark night reveal His magnificence. The mighty works of the seas and all living creatures express the splendor of His grace and power. Even our lives are living evidence of His great excellence and love.

It is His will that we exist, live and enjoy every breath. Every wonder of the earth is a declaration of His glory. It reflects His honor and grandeur and so we do. Whenever we appreciate God’s creation no matter how grand or simple it is, we are also acknowledging His essence as a Creator.

He Has Created All Things

God created all things. He designed each according to their purpose. Every single part of our bodies has a specific function. Similarly, every created thing has a discrete purpose. God formed everything, visible or not, He made it. God’s grace and power enabled the world’s creation and revolution. God uttered words and formed everything from the marvelous light to the living soul. It is through God alone that all things come into existence. All Things Are Created For Him

Through him, by him and for him alone, He creates all things. Each creation exists to live the purpose given to them and that purpose comes from God solely. It is only the inventor who knows for what reason his invention was, its function, and how to use it at its best. The Creator knows very well the ultimate purpose of his every creation. He created us with specific designs and plans.

There is an immense endeavor for a man to find his reason for being and existence. There is no greater answer than this- go back to the One who created you because He knows you better than anyone else in the world; even better than you know yourself. He even knows the numbers on the hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). God knows every beat of your heart. He calls the stars by name, and therefore, also calls you by your name too. You are more important than anything else of God’s creation to the great extent of sending His son to die for you. Thus, it is our highest honor to live for Him also.

All Things Are Designed To Worship Him

He created all things for a particular purpose, beautifully wired with our essence. Each creation’s primary purpose is above other distinct purposes is to worship God. This then means offering our entire being to God which is the act of honoring and admiring Him. To put it simply, in the words of Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, “to worship Him is to make Him smile”. God designed each creation to worship Him.

Even the seas and rocks were all made to praise Him. When we realize that our ultimate purpose is to worship God, then we can stop chasing after temporal things of the world. This is when we can start living the life we long to have.

God is sovereign and in control from the beginning to the end of times. The reason God’s creation is fervently linked to his love and nature as the Creator. Each individual God’s creation reminds you of His love, purpose, and passion. Grace and beauty also contrive your soul. No matter what the world tells you, the one who knows you completely and created you, tells you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14).
