Feeling lonely at times is inevitable because we cannot find someone who can understand or empathize with our circumstances. And sometimes, it is also because we choose to isolate ourselves from others or choose to see our problems as bigger than God. However, bible verses about loneliness reveal one thing: our God is a living God who has never left us in spite of the many times we’ve left Him. He knows our thoughts and feelings. God knows where we always are, whether we are navigating dark times or are on our way to heaven. He knows when we are asleep or awake, and knows us even in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139:1-18).
God has been, and always will be with you to the end of time. The question is, do you trust in our faithful God?
What Does the Bible Say About Loneliness?
What does the Bible say about being alone? Bible quotes about loneliness appear on several occasions, both implicitly and explicitly. One scripture for loneliness is Genesis 2:18, where God claims that it is not good for man to be alone. As fellow creations of God, we have a responsibility towards one another, to carry each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). But some of us still find ourselves being lonely.
Being lonely isn’t a sin, nor does it mean we’re not good enough. King David, is one of the loneliest biblical characters, having faced both physical and emotional isolation from people. Much of his anguish and loneliness is recorded in the Book of Psalms. But in loneliness, we also see his deep yearning for God. King David’s loneliness in the Bible is a powerful example of how God wants us to come to Him when we are lonely–not just to gain His companionship, but also so that He can gain ours too.

Even though I feel hopeless and lonely now, Your love reminds me that everything will be alright in the end. There is nothing that stands in the way of Your love, not even loneliness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
