Hi everyone,

I know many of you are having trouble accessing your email on the new site, but don’t fret – no mail has been lost. I just need to finish copying it to the new site. I started doing that and most people should have the contents of their main inbox available, but not all the folders (yet). It would have been done by now but we had a critical server at work crash and I’ve been down here at the office for about 35 hours straight rebuilding it (and I still have several more hours to go before I’ll be able to finally get some sleep)

In addition to the email itself, many people are concerned about the contacts in their address book. Truthfully, I hadn’t thought about that until someone mentioned it, but I should be able to export contacts and import them into the new webmail system. I’ll worry about that after I get the mail itself restored though.

Also I know the new site has been unavailable at times over the past couple of days. This is related to the server failure I mention above. The site is hosted at the web hosting business I own/operate and the server failure has caused some serious slow downs at times. On top of that, Christian.net uses the Cloudflare CDN service to speed things up, and there have been a few issues with their service (unrelated to the issues on this end).

Anyway, that’s what’s going on. I’m aware of the issues and I’m working hard to fix them ASAP and I’m the only person behind the site. Please email support@christian.net with technical support issues instead of posting comments at the bottom of these posts. The comment area is intended more for discussions about the posting, I can’t monitor them all, especially right now. Email is the best way to get your message to me at the moment.

If you feel you’re missing any mail from the old site, contact me at support@christian.net.

Unfortunately it was not feasible to import the content of the old forums, but I’m sure we’ll be filling up the new forums in no time. If you need to refer to something on the old forums you can still access them via http://old.christian.net

The ceration of sites/blogs on the new site will be available soon. This let’s you create a full blown web site based on WordPress with hundreds of themes and plugins to choose from.

I’ve been hard at work re-forming Christian.net into more of a social networking site, while trying to maintain all the key features that made the old site so popular. So we still have free email (including webmail, POP, IMAP, and SMTP), free web hosting, forums, chat, online bibles, etc.

But now Christian.net includes several new features:

Member “walls” where you can post status updates, add and follow friends, post photos and videos, and so on, much like Facebook.

The ability to create and join “groups” (similar in concept to Facebook groups or fan pages)

Private messaging (sort of like email, but only for use amongst members, and separate from the full blown email services we provide)

See if your friends are on-line and chat or even play games

More powerful web hosting based on WordPress - create your own site or blog based on hundred of available themes and plugins.

A blog (you’re reading it now) for announcements and ramblings.

Please note that the creation of sites and blogs is currently disabled while I finish up some more testing.
